Matt Smith
Words from our General Manager/Youth hockey Director
We hope you enjoyed your summer. I know we did here at La Jolla Ice Town. The advanced and beginner skating camps were a big hit! We had a great turn out for both camps and we look to expand next year.
It was a great summer for Hockey too! Our Metro players improved immensely due in part to the great turn our Power Skating and Mega Stations clinics. Our fantastic Metro coaching staff really helped move our program in the right direction. I’d like to give a big thanks to coaches Tiffany Rosik, Ray Rosik, Scott Smeltzer, Adam Hout, Brandon Francisco and Alexey Veronin!
What a great time at our Beach Bar-B-Q. We had over 60 players and parents turn out for Burgers, dogs and Sodas! The weather was perfect down at La Jolla Shores and everyone really enjoyed themselves. A big thank you to the Gotliebs for bringing the sponsors of the event! Jamba Juice, Nana’s cookies and Chobani Greek Yogurt!
Mike Duffey, our Adult Hockey Director has done it again! We are adding two teams to our already hugely popular Adult Hockey League for a total 37 teams!!! Thanks to all who play in our Adult Hockey League. We are proud to say we have the best set of captains and players in San Diego!

Remodel and Ice Maintenance Update
By now most of you have seen the awesome job Westfield did with the dinning Terrace. You may also have seen construction has started on our long awaited pro shop. We hoping to have the pro shop and skate counter completed in about 7 weeks.
Our Ice is almost dialed in. It was a big job to take the ice out and repaint it in May, but we’re not quite done. We repaired the space in front of the score keeper’s box and now the ice is setting up nicely there. We still have the side in front of the Dining Terrace to go which will be complete September 3rd.
La Jolla Ice Town is committed to having the best ice in Southern California and will stop at nothing until this is achieved!

Metro Hockey Pizza Party
As we finish up the season and get ready for the fall/winter season we’d like to remind you that all of our Metro players and parents are invited to our end of the year Pizza Party!!! It’s happening September 1st from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
We’re having a player verses parent game and skills contest! Players come ready in full gear and parents all you need is a helmet, stick, gloves and of course your hockey skates.
We’ll be handing out awards and eating tons of Pizza.
I hope you all can make it!!!

Brittney Olson
Skating Director
As the end of summer nears, we prepare for our Skate by the Sea ISI Championships. La Jolla Ice Town wishes good luck and a great skate to all competitors!

Skating Academy classes had a wonderful time celebrating the London Olympics. We held our own “Olympic torch passing” relay races. Congratulations to all of our very own Olympic champions! Who knows, someday one of our skaters may be a true Olympian. Keep working towards your dreams!
School will be starting soon so don’t forget to include La Jolla Ice Town in your fall schedule. Next month we will have a “Back to School” week in Academy classes. We will have school themed music and a fun handout for all the students.
Here are some pictures of skaters having fun in our Skating Academy classes this month!

Our teams are gearing up for a great competitive season! Intermediate, Juvenile, and Pre-Juvenile will be learning their programs during Chorography week. Our programs this year are Fantasmic, Candy, and Cars respectively.
We are still looking for more skaters to be a part of our new ISI team and our Collegiate team. If you are curious if synchro would be a good fit for you contact Coach Brittney to schedule a try out, and come see how much fun Epic Edge is!

Mike Duffey
Adult Hockey Director
This next season at UTC La Jolla Ice Town is the biggest adult hockey program in San Diego County.
We will have 36 teams ranging from Platinum division I, high-level players, to division five novice players.
New season starts up mid-September and runs through mid-March. All players must get their USA hockey by August 3, 2012, before they can play in September. This membership is good for one year.
Please notify your captains if you're coming back for fall season so he will include you on his roster. Let's get our teams organized!
Help your captain by paying team fees in advance. If you are able to pay by September 1st you will save money.
La Jolla Ice Town Hockey has expanded greatly in the past two years, let's work together to provide a safe and fun environment. Show your sportsmanship and say "hello" to your opponent! We are seeking parity in our gentlemen's leagues. We all want to go to work the day after the game. Safety is number one! Wearing a mouth guard is recommended. Copper division is now required to wear half shield or visor (HECC approved equipment only) minimum. We have witnessed some injuries and trauma that could have been prevented with the right safety equipment.
There have been several improvements to the rink and more are planned. Please have patience during our construction periods. Look for the Grand Opening of our new Pro Shop in the near future.
Check out Point Streak for updated playoff schedule and updates for fall/winter season 2012/13.
There are openings in all levels, new players are welcome!
