San Diego District Hockey

District_Logo_White_Final.png

The San Diego District Hockey League is going into its second season and UTC Ice is proud to be part of its growth. The league has enjoyed great success this past year due some very exciting ideas.

Number one: It is a location based team roster. Depending on which school district you live in will determine what area of San Diego you will represent and which rink will be your home rink. The hope is teams will be made up of kids who, for the most part, go to the same schools or schools that are relatively close. Eventually with the growth of its popularity the District League will be made up of teams that represent their own high or middle school.

Number two: A NO check option. In All other leagues when your child moves to Bantam they are forced to check. Checking is an important strategic part of the game, but can be very dangerous. If you’re not planning on your child playing for a college one day or don’t have aspirations of going pro or semi pro, the non-checking Jr. Varsity team is for you. Both Varsity and Jr. Varsity are made up of kids in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12. Jr. Varsity does not have checking and Varsity does. UTC Ice will house a Jr. Varsity team this season.
