It's been a great summer so far and it just keeps getting better.
Renovations

We're about to start the second phase of our renovations. We're looking forward to giving our rink a much needed face lift. This phase of renovations will include a new rental skate counter, offices and what we're most excited about, a NEW PRO SHOP!!! We are also incorporating plasma screens throughout the facility to keep you updated with current rink information as well as piping in hockey games, figure skating events and the Winter Olympics!!!
Metro Hockey
Sign ups for the fall season are coming soon. Discounts will be available for early sign ups. We looking forward to having competitive prices and a well organized season. Goalies are always wanted. Most of our Friday night Metro practices will have a Goalie coach on hand. If you are thinking about giving this very important position a try and you want that personal attention of a dedicated goalie coach give me a call 858-452-9110 ext. 4 or email me msmith@lajollaicetown.com!
We know it's important to have a professional coaching staff leading our kids in the game they love. We know you can see how La Jolla Ice Town is certainly moving in a fantastic direction with our coaching staff!! The Metro Teams are looking strong. We're definately giving the other rinks a run for their money. The kids are playing their hearts out and having a great time.
Metro League and Hockey Academy Hockey Bar-B-Q

Hey there La Jolla Ice Town Hockey Players and Parents, if you haven't heard or didn't get the evite, we're having a Bar-B-Q! It's happening Sunday July 15th from 11am-2pm down at La Jolla Shores in Kellogg Park. Come meet us on the grassy area next to the parking lot. Bring your frizbees and surf boards, we're bringing the burgers and dogs! Your welcome to bring somethng to share, but please don't feel obligated.
Hockey Clinics
The Power Skating(click) and Mega Stations(click) hockey clinics on Moday nights have had great turn outs. The players are getting alot out of them. Come join us, there are only a few weeks left.

As the summer heats up in July, come and cool off at La Jolla Ice Town! We offer public sessions 7 days a week, as well as Skating Academy group classes Wednesday, Thursday and Saturdays. If you are looking for one-on-one instruction our professional coaching staff offer private lessons too. Come and join us for some cool summer fun!
The 2012 Summer Olympics in London begin on July 27th. In honor of the games, we will be having our own Olympic Games and fun with our Skating Academy classes on the 25th, 26th, and 28th. Experience all the excitement and competition of the Olympics right here at La Jolla Ice Town!
Advanced Summer Training Camp!

Midway through our summer training camps our skaters are learning tons! Don’t fear there is still time to get in that extra practice you need while there is no school. You can sign up for a full week or drop in to individual classes or freestyles. Our Jr. training camp is having fun on and off the ice, and it is a blast for beginners! Learn to skate and perform a program at the end of the week to show off your skills. For more info on our camps call the box office at 858-452-9110 ext 0.

Epic Edge
The first practice of our new ISI team was awesome! They had a great time learning a new aspect of skating and making new friends. Our team is not full yet so contact Coach Brittney if you are interested in joining this fun and exciting new team.
Our Pre-Juvenile, Juvenile, and Intermediate teams are training hard to advance their skills for this season. We will be starting choreography on our new programs and everyone is getting excited! See pictures of our Intermediate practice courtesy of Rich Lee.

The Adult Hockey Summer Season is rapping up in August. Wow! The Summer is flying by. Check out the updates on the stars of our Adult League!
If you are looking to enjoy fast pace, nail biting, hockey games, come out and watch our ex-collegiate, Junior “A”, professional adult hockey players Thursday nights games start at 6:20pm!
Platinum Division 1: Captain of the San Diego Maple Leafs, Marty Stratte, has a young, fast team, who is currently ranked first in the league. With college professionals from SDSU, the Maple Leaf high scoring players such as Nigel Shroeder #10, who ranks second overall with 27 points. Brian Finn #13, plays for the Shetbirds is leading scorer with 30 points, 19 goals and 11 assists.
Gavin Gruber, goalie for the Rangers, holds the record for the most saves in a single game(37). Young, fast new player, Joe Schweiger for the Eskimos leads the team with 12 goals, 12 assists, and averages 3 points a game. Alec Nadelle, player for the San Diego Maple Leafs, averages 4 points per game and ranked second in his division with overall points per game. Craig Carlyle #18, leads team Hoser with 25 points, 14 goals, and 11 assists. Craig is the son of current head coach Randy Carlyle who coaches the NHL Toronto Maple Leafs. Justin Morrison plays in league and was draft in NHL.
Gold Division 2: Captain Randy Gerson, UTC Ex – Adult hockey director, has an impressive Gladiator team with a 9-3 record. Rob White is the leading scorer for the Gladiator team, with 11 goals and 6 assists. Team Knights, trailing right behind them with an 8-4 record. Captain Matt Bucciero for Team Warrior, is 2nd in points in the league with 14 goals and 12 assists. Matt Hsu, Goalie for the Gladiators, holds the lowest goals scored against, with 3.0 GAA and game percentage of .832%.Rich Vallas, Project Mayhem goalie has the best percentage with .854% and 2nd in the goals against at 3.58.Chip Beebe(Shake n Bake)has most saves with a whopping 273 saves. He also holds the record for the most saves in a single game with 38 saves.Nish Mehta with the Knights has the most points in a single game (9). Erik Leath, with the Knights has the longest win streak for the goalies and 5 straight wins.
Silver Division 3: Derek Howe(Rangers)has the most goals in a single game with (5) and most points in a single game with (7). David Munsch, with the Shooters- has a knack for scoring with the lead league goal (17 goals). Scott Mora, playmaker for the Barnacles has 18 assists. Captain Russ Flynn for Barnacles, has his team playing some great team play with a 9-2 record. Barnacles longest win streak (7). Chiefs are on 3 game win streak Captain is Jim Rocks. Derek Stainer, Senator goalie- has the most saves with 238. Ted Cerimele(Animals )is the biggest player in the league, with the softest hands. He has 15 goals and 10 assist with 25 points. Average points per game with 2.78. Mike Mauldin(Chiefs) is tied in league most point with 12 goals, 13 assists and 25 points.
Bronze Division 4: Captain Rosso Nasipour for the Jaguars has a strong team with a record of 7-3-1. 4 teams are within 1 point for 2nd place. Forest Talbott(Ospreys), is leading in assist with (16). Ex-Olympic roller hockey player Speedy Gonzales leads the league with 25 goals and 9 assist in Arrogant Bastards. John Jacobs ( Stemedica) has the longest point streak with 10 straight games. Blackhawks player Vinnie Tagliabracci, is quite a play maker with 7 assist in a game. Angelo Arias, has most saves in a single game with (35). Stemedica goal tender Noah Stevens, has a very high save percentage with .843%
Copper Division 5: The Thundering Herd is on a roll with a 8-2-1 record. Dan Eldert goaltender has been playing great in the net with a 3.61 goals against. Conor Edmiston, is the league leading point leader with 11 goals, 15 assist and 26 points. Bobby Smith, is 2nd in goals (Thundering Herd) with 11 goals. Bobby has the longest point streak at 7 games. Mario Moreno (Jaguars) is playing some great hockey with 10 goals, and 6 assist. Chris Dare, (Piranhas) is second in assist with (12.) Chris Dane’s nickname is G.I Joe because of his camouflage helmet (Marine) Chris also has the most assist in his single games(5). Dan Monahue, (Pfizer), has the lowest goals against of 2.98 league save% .885. Scott Sowinski(Piranhas), has the most saves in a game with 41 saves.
Top Shelf Tournament
