A Word from our General Manager
Matt Smith
Youth hockey Director
General Manger
We had a great October and November promises to be even better! Our Halloween Party was awesome with our new lights and sound system. Skating school is looking great with lots of sign ups for our annual Chrismas recital. Our in-house hockey program is a huge success with a regular trusty schedule and our and exhibition games against some out of city teams. Mike Duffey continues to have an Adult Hockey League that is the envy of all the other rinks.
Renovations
The UTC Ice Team has been hard at work finishing up the rink’s new look. It’s been a long haul of dust and paint and we thank you for sticking with us for the past months. If you haven’t been by the rink lately take a look at some of the candid shots.
Of course we’re still not totally complete, but you can see we are moving quickly in the right direction.
Halloween Party 2012!
Wow! If you weren’t able to make it out to our awesome Halloween Party, mark your calendars cause you won’t want to miss next years. The costumes were phenomenal, the games were exciting and the dance off competition followed by prizes was the best! We gave away Public session passes, gift certificate to Starbucks, Arch Light movie passes and an $50 Apple gift certificate! CRAZY!

Piranha Hockey
We have got some talented hockey players in our youth program! Not to mention really dedicated coaches! Coach Tiffany organized a super fun Halloween practice. She brought mini pumpkins to use as pucks and Coach Ray scared the kids and even the UTC Ice staff with his goolish costume.
Our Piranha Squirts played Aliso Viejo in an exciting game of will. Although we didn’t end up winning our kids played their hearts out and got plenty of ice time. What’s really exciting is UTC Ice has made its selection for their Mite Tournament Team that will face off in February at the Cal State Games. Cal State Games is right here in San Diego and runs over the four days of President’s Day Weekend.

Skating Academy Director
Halloween was a blast for our Skating Academy! Prizes for best costume and candy for all were the highlight of each class. We had a little of everything with witches, Indians, zombies, and even a goldfish and puppy! Here are some of our costume contest winners all dressed up.

Thanksgiving Week
Skating Academy classes will NOT be held on November 21st, 22nd, and 24th due to Thanksgiving. We will have extended public session hours though, so come and practice if you can. Remember this is one of the 4 weeks we take off every year and there will not be make-up classes for these dates. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

We will be holding an ISI test session on Thursday December 6th. The deadline to register for this test is Saturday November 24th. You can pick up applications for the test session in the UTC Ice office and need your coach’s signature on the registration form.
