Piranha Metro Teams

UTC_Ice_Piranhas_logos.png

We are back in the Greater San Diego Metro Hockey League and what an opening we’ve had so far. We’ve won most of our games and are looking so much stronger than last year. We’re excited to have a huge Hockey Academy Program that feeds directly into our Mini Mites. We’re always taking new academy players. Right now registration in to our Academy includes a stick, jersey, socks and your very own Bauer Vapor or Nexus hockey skates!!! That’s right! To be successful we start our player off right!

Our development of young players is second to none. The Mini Mite program headed up by Coach Tiffany Rosik is really taking off and our players are looking super strong. Most mini Mite games are dominated by our Piranhas. The future looks bright.

Mite Tournament Team

We are looking to produce good things this weekend as our Mite Tournament takes to the ice in Escondido for the Memorial Weekend Tournament. They’ve been practicing hard with Coaches Ray Rosik and Scott Smetzer. I think that everyone will agree with our dedicated coaches and the full ice Tuesday night practices the Mites are looking awesome!!! Good Luck this weekend!!!

The Future of Hockey at UTC Ice

As our Piranha teams gain more and more success we look to increase our numbers at all levels of hockey. As move into September Season we are looking to have 2 Metro Mite Teams as well as Squirt and Peewee Teams. And that’s by this September, just wait and see how strong we are a year from now! It’s going to be awesome!

We will also be looking to build tournament teams from our program at all levels. If you’re interested in hearing about our prospects for growth and your chance to be a part of it call Matt Smith at 858-452-9110 ext 4.

Jay Haisan whose played in leagues for who knows how long played in net. Just joking Jay.  May 12th , John Jacobs(Stemedica) scored 2 goals against Jaguars in a  5-4 lose. Jaguars have not lost this season under Captain Rosso Nasirpour. Also that night Arrogant Bastards player Matt Tadman had 2 of the lone goals to beat Ospreys 2 -0 with  Matt Skopak for 2 assists. Ospreys player Forest Talbott has been a driving force who had a Hat Trick against BeerFine in a Tie game 5-5.  Craig Wiley, Boston Native, also scores a Hat Trick who is a fast, speedy forward and great guy to talk to in the Bronze League.

Silver Division

This Silver Division has become a very popular league because of the competition being so close in same level of play. Shooters player Zack Higson scored 2 quick goals to beat Isotopes May 8th in a close game 6-4.  Drew Kohn had 2 assists with Isotopes. Rangers have become a force in this league run by Randy Gerson and have not lost a game this season; they really know how to move the puck. You can’t out skate a pass. The same night Chiefs played Crimson Guard in a 3-3 tie, Captain Jim Rocks had a goal and assist . Ray Sun with Crimson Guard had 2 assists. Contra is having a strong season with a great team; passing by Jonathan Lux who had 2 assists against Senators. Defenseman, Mark Kester, who played for the Minnesota Gophers, has helped the Contra in great team play. Derek Stainer goalie for Senators always has a ton of saves each night, good luck scoring on this great goal tender with strong defense by Casey White.

Gold Division

Gladiators are all over you in offensive zone like busy bees. They forcheck to where you have no time in the defensive zone.  Scott Chiaradonna(Gladiators) has been a leading force for scoring and defense. Team Warrior (Defending Champions) have won 3 straight games with great goal tender Vay Sam and high power scoring by Alex Matthews, Dmitry Yekhilevsky, Jamie Lenke, Ryan Conger(Ex- San Diego State Player). This Division is fast pace and very fun to watch.

Platinum Division

What I’ve been told that it’s the fastest, cleanest League in Southern California, so come out and see or play with the best players in the San Diego.  We have players that have played in our Platinum League and later go into the Pros, Juniors, or College in the Fall. It’s great training for the summer for you Elite players.
