We had the biggest turnout of participants of any rink in San Diego for the Anaheim Ducks’ 1 on 1 Tournament. Bennett went 5 rounds with a Jr. Gulls travel player, before losing on a good save made by the goalie. Brendan went 4 rounds with an SDIA travel player, before WINNING! Our strong showing at the tournament also included Cade Crist, Bennett Park, Brodie Stump, Karisma Brown, Alex Rosik, Nolan Rosik and Andrew Smeltzer.

In the next round two of our players competed in Anaheim!  Brendan advanced to the semi final round held Nov. 19th at the Honda Center. Creighton Seiders represented us as goalie! Brendan and Creighton made it to the Elite 8 in Anaheim! They won the first round by lost in the 2nd round.

Winners won incredible prizes including a trip to the 2014 NHL Winter Classic* in Detroit, MI, tickets to the Ducks vs. Kings Outdoor Game and the opportunity to face-off against Ducks players in a breakaway competition.

Our Squirt Tournament Team is registered for the Las Vegas International Invitational January 18th to the 20th. The team and coaches have been working extremely hard this season and we are looking forward to hearing all about their first tournament together. They will also be participating in the Cal State games held in San Diego and the Memorial Tournament hosted by Escondido iceoplex.

Calling All MITE Players!!! We are forming a Mite Tournament Team to compete at the Cal State Games. Call or email Matt Smith today if you are interested! The deadline to enter the tournament is just around the corner and space on the team is limited!!!

LA Kings Night

On November 7th our young Piranhas played an intermission game at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The event took place between the 1st and 2nd periods of the Kings vs Buffalo game. Thanks to the Ochoa family our players we able to do something extremely special that night not many teams have a chance to do. Our players and many of our parents were allowed in the Kings’ Player entrance to the ice. Many of the Kings high fived our players!!! The whole Kings Team passed by our Piranhas in full gear. Our players were in awe as many of the NHL guys are almost 7 feet tall with skates on and weigh 225 lbs without pads on. You can only imagine the look on our players faces!!!

On top of that Jonathan Corchis had 2 breakaways during the intermission skate and the crowd went nuts!!! Later on our team, while sitting in the stands, got featured on the jumbo tron. What a night!!! A special thanks to the Ochoa family, Piranha coaches and everyone who joined us for the event!!!
