Which Youth Hockey program is right for my child?

UTC Ice offers multiple hockey pathways based on age and experience level. Beginners typically start with Intro to Hockey, developing players move into Hockey Academy, and more experienced athletes can progress into House Hockey, Tournament Teams, or private coaching.

No prior hockey experience is required for Intro to Hockey. The program is designed for first-time and early-stage players learning skating, puck control, and basic hockey fundamentals.

Hockey Academy focuses on structured skill development such as skating, edge control, shooting, and hockey IQ. House Hockey introduces organized team play with practices, games, and league competition.

About:

Nick directs the UTC Piranhas with a development-first approach rooted in years of coaching across multiple levels, including the San Diego Saints and La Jolla Country Day. A Level 4 USA Hockey Coach and former AAA, juniors, and collegiate player, Nick brings a deep understanding of skill progression and team culture. Since joining UTC Ice in 2021, Nick has helped shape a program where athletes are challenged, supported, and excited to grow, whether pursuing competitive hockey or building lifelong confidence on the ice.
